Meet margaret plourde (she/her), rcc

Supporting you in finding the compassion you deserve.

If you are exhausted from the part of you that always tells you that you are not enough.

You’re in the right place.

My style

I believe that everything you have done to this point makes sense.

The people I have supported describe me as compassionate and I have helped them feel not alone in their struggles. My approach focuses on working together collaboratively to understand and make sense of what has happened in your life which helps reduce feelings of shame and guilt while increasing compassion for yourself.

I show up as my genuine self in our sessions and use trauma-informed, intersectional feminist, and anti-oppressive lens. I draw from a variety of theories to best meet your needs. I often start with getting to know one another and translating the research into digestible information as I find when we understand what is happening, it is less overwhelming. We then will work together to find strategies to cope with the overwhelming emotions and reactions you may have before we process the challenging experiences in your life. While there are times that therapy may feel heavy and difficult, it is also important to me that we find the joy present in your life and I enjoy bringing some humour to our work as well.

I am a white cisgender woman who is an uninvited guest on these lands. It is important that we acknowledge how our identities impact how we show up in the world, how society treats us, and how our differences and similarities may show up in our work together. I began working in the mental health field in 2013 as a crisis line worker and then worked supporting people struggling with substance use and significant mental health concerns. In 2021, I began my work as a Registered Clinical Counsellor working for a non-profit agency supporting women who had experienced violence in their relationships and/or childhood.

Outside of the office, you will find me watching Star Trek with my spouse, cuddling with my cat, reading and buying books (those are two separate hobbies!), exploring new restaurants and recipes with friends, and enjoying walks in our beautiful outdoors.
